Microwaving Specifications Varies according to wattage of microwave, grammage of food in fp, vacant airspace in fp, ingredients (water/fat content) of food in fp, caliper/specifications of paperboard used. As a guideline, when fp is empty the paperboard will only withstand microwaving for 20-30 seconds. When filled with food, the material will remain structurally sound for 2-5 minutes. Between 3-5 minutes, the PE may begin to “denature” and a bubbling effect may appear. The point at which this occurs depends on the variables listed above.

Paper Used 2sided PE coated paperboard (as used for milk cartons). Predominantly material from Stora Enso, IP Forturess & Potlatch mills.
Caliper 400um to 500um (300 to 340 gsm)
All Paperboards used are Food Grade and conform to EU and FDA standards for direct food contact usage
Recyclability Food pails are manufactured from the same material as milk cartons (liquid paperboard) therefore are completely recyclable (in Australia's established kerbside recycling programs run by most Australian municipal councils). The absence of glue in the forming process ensures the food pail complies with Australian Recycling Standards. Liquid paperboard features a very thin film of polyethylene. Any printing or residue on the board is on this film. The film is removed in the recycling house liberating high value pulp which is used to make fine office papers. One food pail makes between 4-7 A4 sheets of office paper.
